Throughout history, roses are symbols of love, beauty, and war. Harvesting of roses began around 5,000 years ago, in China. Later, roses were used by the Romans in celebrations, and to make perfumes. During the seventeenth century, roses were in such high demand that they were used as legal tender, often used in bartering.
